Evaluation Activity 7- Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
From the beginning, during the process of making my priliminary task and crating my horror movie opening, I have mostly learnt about modern technology. I have learn most about how to edit a film on Adobe Premier Pro. I can now include fades, cuts, special effects, titles, sound effects, etc. I also learnt the many different shot types used in film-making, such as close-up, long shot, panning shot, low angle, high angle etc. I learnt that one important rule in film-making is the '180 degree rule'. This means that you cannot make the mistake of turning the camera so that the people in the shot look like they are the other way round from what they were in the first shot.
Evaluation Activity 6- What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
During the A level media course i have done this year I have learnt many different ways in which technology can be used, and the many different types of technology equipment used in film-making. For example, the camera we used to film our horror movie opening. I had neverused a video camera before and it was confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes easy. I also used a voice recorder for the first time whilst doing this course and found it interesting that I could put that over my video. Something else that I learnt in media studies is how to used adobe photoshop, it was very confusing at first, but interesting when you learn how to use it.

Target Audience: Demographics
- Age: The age of our target audience will be teenagers, usually aged 15-19.
- Gnder: Our films is aimed at both genders, although famales may be more interested as they may be able to relate to it more, is the main character is female.
- Class: Our film is aimed at a working class audience, who like to sicalise and go out with their friends.
- Race: Our film is not aimed at any particular race.
- Geographical Location: Our film will be aimed at teenagers in the Cambridgeshire area.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
As I said in a post before, this is my target audience- teenagers.

Shop - branded, topshop
Status - middle class
Other films - cool runnings, the ringer, the hangover

Female -
Like - shopping, pay day!!
Dislike - work, school
Shop - river island, hollister, primark, tesco
Music - classical, R&B, hip hop, holiday
Clothes - fashionable, stylish
Occupation - student, McDonalds, market research assistant
Money - £4.35, £7 an hour
Status - middle class
Other films - the polar express, bridesmaids, the hangover
I have chosen teenagers as my target audience because they fall under the letter code E. This means that they are unemployed, students, pensioners or casual workers. Also, teenagers are the most sociable age group, and are willing to go out with their friends to the cinema. A common way to go on a date as a teenager is going to the cinema too.
Male:
Like - food, technology, football
Dislike - work, schoolShop - branded, topshop
Music - hip hop, R&B
Clothes - fashionable, stylishOccupation - student, shop assistant
Money - £8, £7 an hourStatus - middle class

Evaluation Activity 2-How does your media product represent particular social groups?
I have chosen an image from the film When A Stranger Calls, and I have taken a similar image from our film. This is because both When A Stranger Calls and our film Rejected both revolve around a young female getting odd, scary phone calls and being frightened by them. In films like these it is usually a young female getting the scary phonecalls, this is because they are seen as most vulnerable. I feel as though our film represents the teenage social group, as teenagers will feel as though they can relate to the film as the main characters are in the same age group.

Evaluation Activity 1- in what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
We decided to call our film 'Rejected'. This is because it is intrueging as you do not know much about the film just from the name. The name 'Rejected' could connote that it is a horror, comedy, romantic or any film. We called it this because our film is about a man that gets rejected from women quite often, but when he does he hunts them down and murders them.
The location we chose for our film was a house. This is because it is a typical setting for a horror film with a young teenage girl in it, as many young girls have a fear of being home alone. The has also been done in other horror films and young girls can relate to this.
The most used prop in our horror opening was a house phone. This is because people can relate to weird phonecalls and how frightening they can be. It has also been used in other films such as A Stranger Calls and Phone Booth.
We used many different types of camerawork and editing. One particular one would be the point of view shot from the murderer outside. This is quite common as it shows how easily people can be watched and how scary it is knowing that it can happen. I also used fades in my editing, this is because it then does not just jump from one scene to the next, there is a gradual change.
The font and style of my title shows that the film is not pleasant. It has a rigid font which shows that it is a rigid and scary film. It also appears when the murderer is lighting a candle, this shows mystery and the slow way that he lights it makes him seem focused on something bad.
The story in our film is based on a man that often gets rejected by women and has done all of his life. As he got older this started to anger him and he decided to murder every woman that dared to reject him. The opening only suggests that the murderer wants to hurt the young girl, it does not suggest why which will leave the viewer thinking and will make them want to see more.
The genre of this film is a horror. This shows with the tense and scary music and when the murderer has a scary voice over this phone. It also shows with the mise-en-scene in the title sequence as it is dark and mysterious.
The two first characters were introduced by them walking to the front door, having a conversation about meeting up tomorrow and aleisha being alone in the house that night. This shows that something can happen to Aleisha. Aleisha then lets Emma out the front door and she turns to go upstairs. The next character, which is the murderer (Toby), is introduced with the first phone call.
The special effects I used to create our film were the fading shots, the voice on the phone and the non-diagetic music.

Production Company Logos

20th Century Fox: This is a very attractive company logo. It draws you in with the different colours and the beams of light shining over it make it look very important.
DreamWorks: This production logo draws the eye with its magical image, it gives off the image that the films you watch by this production company will be magical and inspiring.
Paramount: This production logo has an image of a mountain. This tells us that it is powerful and the stars show that it is magical. The stars for a round shape- the shape of the earth- and so it could connote that the production company is worldwide.

Universal: Universal's production logo has a picture of the world on it, this shows that it is popular all over the world as the name of the caompany wraps round it. Also it gives of the image that it is in outa space, this makes us think that it is 'out of this world' and amazing.
Warner Bros. Pictures: This logo shows quite a family setting. It has soft colours and the sheild shows that it is a strong company.
Title Sequence of The Italian Job
The title sequence is similar to many other title sequence in regard to the order in which things are presented, such as the production company, actors and title of the film. It is very similar to Se7en because it shows you snippets of the film setting and gives you a rough idea about the film plot.
- Production company logo
- Very simple opening, brief snippets of the setting of the film
- Title sequence 2:00mins long
- Credits, actors, music
- Introducing characters through various cross cuts
