We decided to call our film 'Rejected'. This is because it is intrueging as you do not know much about the film just from the name. The name 'Rejected' could connote that it is a horror, comedy, romantic or any film. We called it this because our film is about a man that gets rejected from women quite often, but when he does he hunts them down and murders them.
The location we chose for our film was a house. This is because it is a typical setting for a horror film with a young teenage girl in it, as many young girls have a fear of being home alone. The has also been done in other horror films and young girls can relate to this.
The most used prop in our horror opening was a house phone. This is because people can relate to weird phonecalls and how frightening they can be. It has also been used in other films such as A Stranger Calls and Phone Booth.
We used many different types of camerawork and editing. One particular one would be the point of view shot from the murderer outside. This is quite common as it shows how easily people can be watched and how scary it is knowing that it can happen. I also used fades in my editing, this is because it then does not just jump from one scene to the next, there is a gradual change.
The font and style of my title shows that the film is not pleasant. It has a rigid font which shows that it is a rigid and scary film. It also appears when the murderer is lighting a candle, this shows mystery and the slow way that he lights it makes him seem focused on something bad.
The story in our film is based on a man that often gets rejected by women and has done all of his life. As he got older this started to anger him and he decided to murder every woman that dared to reject him. The opening only suggests that the murderer wants to hurt the young girl, it does not suggest why which will leave the viewer thinking and will make them want to see more.
The genre of this film is a horror. This shows with the tense and scary music and when the murderer has a scary voice over this phone. It also shows with the mise-en-scene in the title sequence as it is dark and mysterious.
The two first characters were introduced by them walking to the front door, having a conversation about meeting up tomorrow and aleisha being alone in the house that night. This shows that something can happen to Aleisha. Aleisha then lets Emma out the front door and she turns to go upstairs. The next character, which is the murderer (Toby), is introduced with the first phone call.
The special effects I used to create our film were the fading shots, the voice on the phone and the non-diagetic music.
